French Romance - decoupage champagne

Bottle preparation

In order to prepare the surface for decoupage, you first need to remove all the "native" labels . Hold the bottle in room temperature water for several hours, then use a sponge to remove the label with a brush. The remains of glue will be removed with cotton wool soaked in vegetable oil. The next step is to degrease. It is required to remove all residual oil, so that the paint falls well on the glass. The bottle can be cleaned with alcohol, special degreaser or liquid for washing windows and glasses with alcohol content. Walk over the surface with cotton wool with the above remedies, blot dry with a towel.
 wipe the bottle
It is more convenient to put paint on the bottle not with a brush, but with a piece of dishwashing sponge. For convenience, fix it on a plastic clothespin.Let's not ground with pure white paint, make the color matte: add yellow and black colors.
 Preparing a bottle
Apply two or three coats of acrylic primer or paint in succession, with mandatory drying. Paint bubbles that will appear on the surface should be spatted for a long time.

Preparing the main picture

So, while the paint is drying, you can take a picture. Here it is.
Preparing the main picture
This is cardboard, and any cardboard is several layers of paper. The top layer is glossy, as if already varnished, the drawing is applied on coated paper. The lower layers are darker and more dense. Turn the picture, gently pull the edge of the delaminated cardboard. So, as shown in the photo.
 Preparing the main picture
Be extremely careful not to damage the paint layer! The next step is to rub with a finger dipped in clean water. surface of cardboard,like rolling up extra paper in small rolls.
 Preparing the main picture
If it turns out that the cardboard can be delaminated again, do it.
 Preparing the main picture
Try a picture of the bottle. Indeed, it looks noble.
Preparing the main picture
The last stage of preparing the picture: put the picture on white paper with a colorful side, wet it pretty well and use a cotton swab or finger to remove extra paper (pay attention this is white, not light brown paper). It is important not to overdo it so that a hole does not form in the picture.

Attention! Do not attempt to take a picture off white paper until it is dry! If you are eager to continue working, dry the image with a hairdryer.

Finishing the surface and the picture

Now, the dried layers of paint on the bottle should be sanded with emery paper. With external smoothness, small cavities will form all the same.They can either be left without filling, or superimposed on top a very thin layer of putty (0,1 mm) (applied with a plastic card or even with a finger).decoupage of a bottle of champagne

To glue the first and main motive of the prig tovte PVA glue. It will need to be diluted with water 1: 1 (one part of glue and about the same amount of water), mix thoroughly.
 Decoupage

Decoupage

Spread the bottle in the place where it will be located the main plot, with white glue with water, grabbing the periphery. To do this, put the champagne on its side on a towel that will not be a shame to be soiled with liquid glue.
 Decoupage
Carefully iron the picture with a brush or fingers. Since this is not a napkin, it is problematic to damage the paint layer, especially since the cardboard was like lacquer. By the way, when ironed by iron, small cracks could form on the surface, this can be called the aging effect,which are often specially used by craftsmen. The main motive is to choose a suitable napkin in advance, then we will work with it using two techniques: decoupage with a file and direct decoupage. We will not paint the background with paint; it will be enough to take motifs that are suitable for color. I chose a serving napkin with the image of Paris: it has flower fragments, the Eiffel Tower, inscriptions (for some reason, in English), the names of Paris streets. I recommend to treat the words carefully and tear them from the napkin so that they can be easily read on the bottle later. I have these words: "family, home, time" and others. You can also read the following phrases: "Having someone to love ia family" and "Having someone to go is home." Nice words that can be addressed to the person for whom the gift is intended. So, the napkin is gradually tearing into motives. Sometimes you need to look at the images for a very long time and think about where to attach this or that flower. Do not forget that when wetting the cloth increases, the surface, which will cover the dry and wet paper, are different. It is not necessary to separate all motives at once. Some may get lost in the process, or suddenly it turns out that the picture is too small. At first, the fragments will be quite large,closer to the end of the work, you will stick all smaller motifs or background elements, up to 2x2 mm. I took the floral motif first, as such a beautiful lady, like in our main picture, should definitely be surrounded by flowers. The drawing is placed on the file face down, wetted with water and expel air bubbles from under the napkin with a soft brush.

Gently put the picture in the right place on the bottle. I remove the file, the picture remains on the surface. And only now I smear the napkin with glue. Liquid glue permeates the motive and firmly attaches it to the bottle.

In the same way I stick other larger pieces of napkin. In the photo below you can see the intermediate result. Important! Before each next stage I dry the surface with a hair dryer, sometimes it is necessary to fix the napkin with a brush or hand, but this should be done very carefully.

That's how I try on a dry napkin with a motif, decide where to stick it. In this case, this floral motif appeared to be in a completely different place.

In the same way, I paste the entire bottle, turning it to me either sideways, then another. Sometimes it is more convenient to put it on the bottom, and sometimes - put it on a napkin. It happens that you want to level the surface with sandpaper or tint the background (if the glue has spread), every time I use a hairdryer for drying. I paste small fragments of a napkin without a file, by direct decoupage. I brush the dry cloth on top with glue and brush it gently to smooth it out. On the napkin some flowers were not completely depicted. The color scheme of this work is as follows:
  • gray, brown — the colors of the background, the inscriptions and the Eiffel Tower;
  • red - rose color;
  • blue is the color of carnations;
  • green is the color of the leaves.
I place the incomplete flowers at the bottom or at the top of the bottle, so that I feel that the flower is completely invisible. At the very end of the work I decorate the cork with a band and a glue gun.

Carefully inspect the bottle from all sides. There was no desire to correct something, to paint on paints? Then it only remained to cover the job with lacquer.
