I heard that galvanized metal fasteners can rust if accidentally damage it during operation. So, in my opinion, it is better to take plastic.

In my little experience with perforated metal fasteners work easier. It can also be sanded if necessary, and I don’t agree with you about rust, but it is unlikely that you will be able to grind plastic. I would like to add that plastic fasteners putty harder than metal. I try to use only perforated metal fasteners in my work.
