With the arrival of spring, the season of summer residents and gardeners begins. At this wonderful time, there is no time to rest, because you need to have time to plant and grow seedlings in order to please yourself and loved ones with homemade vegetables from your own garden bed. In order not to be disappointed in the fruits of their labor, many prefer to do it in greenhouses. These simple adaptations make it possible to significantly improve the crop, and to avoid the consequences of weather vagaries, for example, frosts. They are easy to control the temperature, the degree of light and humidity. It remains to find an economical and durable version of the greenhouse, so that it will last more than one year. And we’ll look at this greenhouse today.
Materials for greenhouses
Our greenhouse will be 3x5 meters, but its dimensions can be arbitrary. The frame material is PVC cold water pipes (HV). The specification is as follows:
We will cover the greenhouse with a length of polyethylene film of 7x9 meters.Short trim from the pipes should not be thrown out. They can be adapted for auxiliary elements - door handles and clamps. From fittings, we will need:
several window hinges, self-tapping screws with washers or wide caps (preferably anodized).Tool:
hammer, hacksaw or grinder for cutting pipes, screwdriver with nozzle for screws, knife, tape measure and a pencil or marker. Well, and a shovel with a chopper at each gardener will always be. So here we go!
We assemble a greenhouse from PVC pipes
We prepare the base for a greenhouse
For a greenhouse to be stable, a reliable base is needed. Instead of capital concreting, we use lengths of a pipe with a diameter of 40 mm. We cut from it segments of half a meter length (whose soil is loose, can be longer), and drive into the ground at an interval of 1 meter.
Set the arc
The shape of the greenhouse is attached to the frame, which in our case will be semicircular. We take pieces of pipe 32 mm, and bend them by inserting into the rack. There should be exactly six semicircular arches. You can fix arcs in racks in the following ways: 1. Spike sanitary iron - a reliable way, but makes the arches of the greenhouse non-separable; 2. On self-tapping screws - the inner hole of the racks is expanded with a mill or knife so that a pipe of a smaller diameter is inserted into it freely. The connection after this is easy to fix on the screws with a drill or a screwdriver.
Fastening the joints
The next step in assembling the frame of the greenhouse will be the installation of connecting crossbars. They are made of segments of length 5 m. These elements will need only three. To avoid the accumulation of excess moisture inside the pipes, we solder plastic plugs of the appropriate diameter at the ends. To connect with the arcs, the author used a special fixing clamp (photo). br>
Mount the doors
In conclusion, you need to equip the doors in our greenhouse. To do this, take a pair of pieces of 2 and 1.15 meters for each door, and fix them in the form of a rectangular box under the canvas on both sides of the greenhouse. The frame for the door is made of a pipe of the same diameter, strengthening in the middle of the cross member. Calculate the gaps of about 1 cm around the perimeter of the rectangle. As a loop, any narrow window hinges of simple opening that can be mounted on self-tapping screws are suitable. The door handle is made of a short length of pipe, and we mount it on plastic clips, fixing it with screws. For stiffness on the side of the handle, you can place another crossmember.
Stretch the film
Stretch the polyethylene film cut to the size over the greenhouse. To fix it on the pipes, you can cut the semicircular plates from the waste from the same pipe with a length of 10-20 cm, and press them with screws. A rubber tube of suitable diameter will also work.If you cut a length out of it, you get a flexible fitting collar, which is easy to install and remove if necessary by hand. At the base of the greenhouse, the author advises to make a 20x20 cm channel, and press the film with earth soil. align: center; ">
These greenhouses have many advantages. PVC pipes can be bought anywhere. This material does not rot and does not collapse in the open air for decades. The diameter of the pipes can be selected depending on the size of the greenhouse, and fixing clamps to do it yourself. Otherwise, such a project provides complete creative freedom for a true gardener and amateur home farming.
