What is a contusion?

Have you ever heard such a word as concussion? It is found in military films, in reports of incidents, in medical descriptions. What it is? This term refers to the pathological condition of the body due to the impact of a shock wave (water, air or sound) on it, as well as when it hits the ground.

Victims of contusion require immediate hospitalization. This injury is fraught with serious consequences. Brain contusion can cause paralysis, speech disorders, hemorrhage, and epileptic seizures. Eye contusion may result in loss of vision or even of the organ itself.

The treatment of contusion is:

  • in providing the victim with complete rest;
  • in applying cold (if there is a concussion of the brain);
  • in eliminating bleeding (if any);
  • in taking medications;
  • in carrying out physical therapy (during the rehabilitation period).
