The most obvious meaning of the word “registrar” is “the person responsible for registering something”. It may be, for example, the correspondence registrar, which records all incoming and outgoing letters in the journal. The registrar may be a legal entity.

For example, today there are domain name registrars that provide services for registering domains on the Internet, that is, they assign a client the right to use a specific site name, such as elhow.ru.

In addition, the recorder may also be called an instrument that records any phenomena. Registrars are also used in science (for example, to register any particles), in aviation (where they are also known as “black boxes”) and in everyday life.

Motorists, for example, are familiar with DVRs - cameras, which are installed on the windshield and record everything that happens in case of a traffic accident. You can read more about car recorders in our articles How to choose a DVR and How to use a DVR.

The word “registrar” has a less high-tech meaning, which with time will probably only become obsolete. The registrar is a clerical folder, equipped with a mechanism for fastening papers.
