What to feed the geese?

Many are bred at home geese. These birds are unpretentious and do not require special conditions of detention. It is only necessary to correctly form their diet. Let us dwell on how to feed the geese.

Diet in the warm season

In the warm season, the main diet of geese is green fodder. Usually these birds eat up to 2 kg of fresh grass. But it is important to produce additional feeding. Potatoes, vegetable tops, cabbage leaves and combined silage are introduced into the diet. It is very important to give geese mineral supplements - they contribute to normal digestion. Fine gravel, chalk, sand, shell rock can act as them.

In the daily ration of geese you need to include cereal feed - rye waste, oats, wheat, corn. It is important to ensure that they are constantly filled with drinkers. Thanks to them, the geese will not only quench their thirst, but also rinse their nostrils.

Diet in the cold

In the cold season, grazing of geese stops, as a result of which their diet is seriously depleted. That is why it is so important to harvest hay, various vegetables and mixed fodder in summer. In addition, fish or bone meal should be present in the diet. The amount of salt in winter is 2 grams per day.

Harvested for the winter food before distribution must be crushed and steamed. Then it is mixed with boiled vegetables (they should have a puree texture) and mixed fodder.

In the cold season, geese must be given fodder beet and Jerusalem artichoke. An important component of the diet - high-calorie cake, remaining in the processing of flax, soy or sunflower. Do not neglect the wholegrain and flour additives, soaked crushed peas.

In the cold season goose, it is desirable to give shoots of various cereals. They will help fill the deficiency of minerals and vitamins. It is recommended to feed the geese three times a day during this period, especially if it is very cold outside.
